The questions Google tells you to ask an SEO
From Google Search Central, Do you need an SEO?, last updated 5 June 2026
- Can you show me examples of your previous work?
- Our case studies show our first client's results with dated screenshots, including one result that did not hold up.
- Do you follow Google Search Essentials?
- We do. We do not buy links, hide text or publish pages made only for search engines. One of us reviews everything we publish, and you approve it first.
- What results should I expect, and in what timeframe?
- Expect movement over months. Our first client's Search Console impressions went from 1,091 in June 2026 to 9,958 in September. We measure pages indexed, impressions and positions for the searches we agree with you, and the enquiries you get from search.
- What is your experience in my industry?
- We have written guides for Singapore law firms, clinics, renovation firms, tuition centres and others, and we scanned 71 SME websites across 11 industries. Ask us for the guide closest to your business.
- What is your experience in my country or city?
- Our clients are Singapore businesses, and we write for Singapore searches, places and rules.
- How long have you been in business?
- Since May 2026, when we started building our first client's website. Everything we claim on this site is dated so you can check it.
- How will we communicate, and will you share every change?
- By email and a monthly call. The monthly report lists every page we changed or published, with links, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
- Should I give you access to my Search Console?
- For a first look, read access is enough, which is also what Google advises at the audit stage. You stay the owner of your Search Console and your website.
Price and contract
- How much does rankr cost?
- Three monthly plans: Foundation at S$800, Growth at S$1,200 and Growth + Social at S$1,600. Each includes site fixes, new content, your approval on every page and a monthly report.
- Is there a minimum term?
- Plans start with a three-month pilot and then run month to month.
- Can I use a government grant to pay for this?
- We are not a pre-approved vendor for any Singapore grant.
- Do you charge GST?
- We do not. We are not registered for GST, so our prices are what you pay.
Results and reporting
- How long does SEO take?
- It takes months. A new page has to be found, indexed and trusted before it moves. Our first client's impressions grew every month from June to September 2026; the case study has the dated numbers.
- Do you guarantee rankings or ChatGPT citations?
- We do not. Google and OpenAI decide what they show, and Google's own guide says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking. We commit to the work instead: what we will change, when, and a report that shows it.
- What does the monthly report show?
- Every page we changed or published, with links; how many of your pages are indexed; and from Search Console the impressions, clicks, click-through rate and average position for the searches we agreed.
- SEO feels slow. What should I look for each month?
- Look for finished work first: pages changed, pages added, problems fixed. The numbers follow in order: pages get indexed, then shown, then move up, then bring enquiries. If a month passes with nothing changed, ask why.
AI, content and trust
- How do you use AI?
- We use AI for research, analysis and first drafts, which is how we keep prices at SME level. One of us checks every page for accuracy and local detail, and you approve it before it goes live.
- Will Google penalise AI-assisted content?
- Google's guidelines allow AI-assisted content. Its spam policies target content made mainly to manipulate rankings. What decides it is whether the page is accurate and useful, which is why a person edits every draft.
- What are GEO and AEO, and do I need them?
- They are names for getting your business cited in AI answers such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. We treat them as part of SEO, because the same clear, factual pages win both. More in GEO vs AEO vs SEO.
- Does ChatGPT read LinkedIn?
- ChatGPT's search crawler can read public LinkedIn company pages and posts, so they can appear as sources in its answers. LinkedIn blocks the crawler OpenAI uses for training.
- Why does my real business look fake online?
- Usually three things: stock photos, a page that never says who you are or where you work, and claims with no proof. We fix those on the pages we work on, using photos you supply, the area you serve, and evidence such as reviews, prices and dates.
- Will a prettier website rank better?
- A redesign alone rarely changes rankings. Google and AI assistants rank pages that answer the customer's question: what you do, where, for how much and how long. A plain page that answers those can beat a beautiful one that does not.
- Does domain rating (DR) matter?
- Domain rating is Ahrefs' estimate of the strength of a site's backlinks. Our first client started at DR 0 and was recommended by ChatGPT within two months, so a low rating does not stop you being found for specific questions.
- Should my FAQ page have FAQ schema?
- It does no harm, and it rarely changes how a small business appears on Google today. The answers matter more: AI assistants quote clear questions and answers.
- My Google Business Profile was suspended. Can you help?
- We can. Google Business Profile support on the Growth plan covers verification, suspension appeals and a monthly update. Only Google can reinstate a profile, so we prepare the appeal and the evidence and cannot promise the outcome.
- Why does rankr not have a Google Business Profile?
- Google only lists businesses that meet customers in person, at an address or at the customer's location. We work remotely, so we do not qualify, and listing anyway would break Google's rules.
Working with us
- Is rankr only for Singapore businesses?
- Our clients are Singapore SMEs, and our research, examples and pricing are built around them.
- Who will I deal with?
- The two founders, Abhishek Vulla and Abel Lee. There is no account manager in between.
- Who approves the work?
- You do. One of us reviews every page for accuracy and usefulness, and nothing is published until you sign it off.
- What SEO services does rankr provide for Singapore SMEs?
- We run SEO for Singapore SMEs as an agency: keyword research from your own Search Console, fixes to the pages you have, new service pages and articles, and a monthly report. We also offer Reddit research and YouTube SEO.
- How do I start?
- Send us your website through the contact page. We reply with a written proposal.
